Tottenham manager considers King contract

Tottenham defender Ledley King could yet sign a new contract at White Hart Lane, after numerous excellent performances for his club this year. King's return to action has coincided with Spurs' recent good form, with the club unbeaten in 10 games.

King's contract will soon expire, and the club are obliged to offer him a new deal once he has played 20 games this year. At this stage, King looks set to reach that milestone.

Sensationally, Harry Redknapp has revealed that King does not train with the first team squad and has his own training programme.

"Ledley would have been as good as anyone in the world if he hadn't had all those injuries," said Redknapp.

"A few years ago it looked like he was going to retire but the way he has come back this season has just been amazing.

"It's no coincidence that we haven't lost a single match he's played for us this season.

"He reads the game so well, he's always in the right place and he gives the whole team an air of confidence.

"We've won nine of our last 10 games in the league and the one game we drew in that run was when Ledley had to come off injured at Newcastle.

"And even their boss Alan Pardew reckoned we would have won if Ledley had stayed on.

"He doesn't do any training at all with us. He has a 10-minute warm-up on the Friday and that's all he does with the other lads.

"He has a little jog round with them and does a bit of piggy-in-the-middle possession and then hopefully gives me the thumbs up that he's OK for the next day."
