Leon Clarke has joined Charlton from Swindon Town on a loan deal of 18-months. The striker signed as part of a swap deal for Paul Benson.

The 26-year old forward has been in great form scoring nine goals in 16 appearances on loan at Chesterfield. The striker was tracked by many League One clubs.

He had been involved in a bust-up with Swindon boss Di Canio and his move from the club was imminent. Clarke said "I am happy to join Charlton. I am determined to do my best for the club."
