Robert Pires rules out Arsenal return

Arsenal legend Robert Pires has scotched talk of a shock return to the Gunners first team. Pires training with Arsenal had seen several reports link the winger with a Thierry Henry-esque return to the Gunners.

But the former Aston Villa winger will not be returning to the Emirates as a player, and Arsene Wenger is hoping that experienced, successful heads on the training ground will help build a strong team spirit at Arsenal.

Pires said on Twitter: "I'm training to maintain my fitness but thanks. I appreciate you all want me back."
