Arsenal track Belgian youth prospect Mats Rits

Arsenal have been scouting Ajax's 18-year-old starlet Mats Rits. The midfielder joined the Amsterdam side last summer from Germinal Beerschot and has so far failed to force his way into the first team.

The impressive youngster has been earmarked as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is expected to quit Ajax in the next year for a move abroad. Rits is very highly rated at the Amsterdam Arena, and Arsenal scouts have been very impressed with his development so far.


Real Madrid are also long term admirers of Rits, who has been promised a breakthrough into the reserve team at Ajax by coach Danny Blind this year. However, it seems Arsenal could be in pole position to secure his signature,  as the Gunners prepare a 3.25 million EUR bid for the Belgium youth international this summer.
