Gregory van der Wiel eyes Chelsea move

Dutch defender Gregory van der Wiel still hopes that he can one day complete a move from Ajax to European Champions Chelsea this summer. The full back has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for over two years.

"I haven't heard anything from my manager so it's just rumours I think. We'll see," said the defender.


Van Der Wiel helped Ajax to their second consecutive league title last year, with help from some excellent displays from the 24-year-old.


Chelsea are ready to pay around 7.5 million GBP to bring the defender to England prior to Euro 2012, where he will be an important part of the Netherlands' squad.
