Newcastle closing in on Alex Pearce move

Newcastle are hopeful that they can agree a deal for Reading's centre back Alex Pearce. The player will be out of contract shortly. Pearce has spent his entire career with Reading and is said to be eager to stay in the Premier League.

The 6 foot 2 centre back was an important part of the first team for the Royals last year, but after 12 years at the Madjeski Stadium he has decided that now is the time to move for pastures new. 


Liverpool were also amongst the teams battling for his signature, but Newcastle are believed to be in pole position to secure his transfer.
