Chelsea Acquire Schurrle

Chelsea Acquire Schurrle

Not long ago, the episode of Andre Schurrle’s big signing for the Stamford Bridge got partially, if not completely, eclipsed after Mourinho expressed his discontentment at the proposed barter involving the possible departure of Chelsea’s Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne.

But after having found the replacement for the German striker in the form of Heung-Min Son, Hamburg’s attacker, Bayer Leverkusen have allowed Jose Mourinho to complete his first signing at Chelsea in his second term. Leverkusen seems more than happy to have brought in the South Korean, Son and they reckon him as an ideal substitute for Schurrle.

"Son fits in our requirements as a young, still very viable professional, with international standards. We are happy that he decided to join Bayer 04 Leverkusen as the club where he can best realise his own lofty goals”, says Leverkusen's director Wolfgang Holzhauser.

20 years old, Son scored 12 goals in Bundesliga last season. He comes in at Leverkusen on a five year contract and was paid a fee believed to be nearly €10 million.

The official Chelsea FC website reads:
"Chelsea Football Club and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Andre Schurrle, subject to the completion of legal documentation and related matters, including personal terms and passing a medical."

Schurrle's signing up for Chelsea will definitely give coach Mourinho more flexibility and options in the attacking division of the team.
