Asier Illarramendi linked with Arsenal switch

Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Asier Illarramendi has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer. The 23-year-old has attracted the interest of Gunners' scouts over recent months and according to the Daily Mail an offer will be made in the coming weeks.

The Spain under-23 international burst onto the scene in 2010 and has now been a regular first teamer since then. Illarramendi has been with Sociedad since 2002 and from there has progressed his way up the ranks via the reserve team.


Arsenal are eager to find a defensive midfielder as Mikel Arteta has spent time playing in that role in recent months; many Gunners fans are eager for the club to finally find a defensive player as the club failed to purchase a player since Alex Song's departure to Barcelona last year.
