Japan’s most popular attacking footballer Keisuke Honda has drawn immense attention from a host of clubs. After Everton revealed their interest in the player a few days ago, it’s now AC Milan’s turn, who have expressed their desire to seize the 27-year-old’s transfer move.

Milan have revived their long term interest in the player that dates back to the summer of 2010, when it was suggested that the Rossoneri were very close to completing his signing. Earlier this month, in an interview, Honda hinted at his desire to move away from Russia.

"I've had a fantastic time in Russia, but now it's time for a new challenge,"

The charming midfielder, who is also apt to the striker roles, has 6 more months on his present contract with CSKA Moscow. Everton manager Roberto Martinez is hopeful of completing the deal before the winter transfer season. But he will now have to rival Milan for the same.

AC Milan have had Keisuke for a long time on their shopping list but now they want him as a replacement for midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng. The 26-year-old Ghana international has been linked strongly with a club exit this summer.

Milan are expecting offers for Boateng as well as Stephan El Shaarawy and Antonio Nocerino and they look to use the incoming funds to bring in the Asian player.  Signing Honda to their side, Milan would also be looking to increase their popularity in Asia.
