Liverpool target Diego Capel open to Atletico Madrid switch

The Reds have been monitoring the 25-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Diego Capel for the past few weeks but have not yet made a bid for the highly rated player.

Diego Capel has recently admitted that he would be open to a move to Atletico Madrid this summer. The Spanish side look like Liverpool's biggest contenders in the race to sign the highly rated midfielder.


Reports suggest that Atletico have already made a bid for the midfielder, although it was denied by the president Enrique Cerezo earlier this month.


Capel himself has suggested that he is proud of the interest from the Spanish capital side adding up more speculation about his future with the Premiera Liga club.


The Spain international told AS: "I am very proud to be linked with big clubs like Atletico"


"One always wants to keep progressing and that is a great club.


"I do not know what will happen in the future but any player would like to play there."
