Napoli Closes In On Santos Goalkeeper Rafael

Latest transfer reports suggest that Napoli are strongly headed to confirm a deal with Santos goalkeeper Rafael, following decisive talks between the player and head coach Rafa Benitez.

The 23-year-old’s agent, Paulo Afonso reportedly strongly believes that his client’s prospective summer landing would be in Naples and that the deal could be finalized any time soon.


In his statement to the reporters, he said,


"The conversation that he had with Rafa Benitez was crucial. [Rafael] has decided, negotiations are moving very well and should be done soon"


The goalkeeper has been capped thrice for the Selecao senior squad and has spent his entire footballing career at the Brasileirao giants. It has also been suggested by reports that Roma have also shown interest in the Brazilian but Rafael, whose contract ends in 2014, insists on joining the Serie A outfit this summer.
