West Ham confirm Salomon Kalou transfer move
West Ham have confirmed they are making efforts to sign Ivorian forward Salomon Kalou. The former Chelsea forward is currently playing in France with Lille but wants a return to the Premier League.
West Brom were believed to be in pole position to secure the forward's signature but now West Ham are frontrunners after constructive talks with Kalou's agent and other representatives.
Despite only joining Lille last year, the 27-year-old misses England and is eager to make a return to London.
West Ham's manager Sam Allardyce has also confirmed Kalou is in talks with the East London side.
"I think that, as far as I know, the West Ham chairman is speaking with the player’s agent. We understand the player wants to come back and play in England. Whether that’s with us or whoever, we’re having a look at it," said Allardyce.
"Obviously from his record at Chelsea and his goal-scoring record last season in France, and his age, he’s very appealing to us."
