Newcastle agree fee with Lyon over Gomis transfer

Newcastle United have reached an agrement with Olympique Lyon over the transfer of striker Bafetimbi Gomis acccording to the French club's president.

The Magpies have been interested in the 27 year old but refused to meet the Ligue 1 side's valuation of the striker. Having had their first offer rejected., it was rumored that the Tyneside club have decidedly pulled out of the race to sign him.

But it seems that the two clubs have finally agreed on a fee and the transfer will go through once the issue over agent's fees are resolved.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told French website Journal du Dimanche: "We have accepted the proposal of Newcastle, which is eight million euros, plus two million bonus.

"The agreement is now linked to the acceptance of agents' fees. I understand that the problem is in the amount and manner of payment of commissions.

"There are several people involved in the operation, which complicates the negotiations, but I am hopeful that things will be resolved within 24 or 48 hours."
