Moyes: result was justified

David Moyes has insisted that it would have been unfair had Everton not grabbed two injury time goals from Carsley and Vaughan to defeat Birmingham on Saturday. Moyes said: "Not to have won would have been unjust. We showed great character and stuck at it, and I think we deserved the situation to turn in our favour."

"We should have been well ahead at the break, but things went flat, everybody felt it, and even then Birmingham didn't make many chances.

"We were not doing enough but we were not having to do too much. I just expected us to see the game out, but they got their equaliser and we were in a difficult situation.

"I can't ever recall seeing two goals like that in injury time, but if we hadn't got all three points it would have been an injustice.

"Everyone was positive. James Vaughan returns from injury and scores a goal, and we kept at it.

"We have frequently won matches here in the final minutes, we seem to be good at it.

"It was a great strike from Lee Carsley. I almost told him at the break to stop shooting because he had messed up a few opportunities. But I am glad I didn't stop him, I would have been wrong and thank goodness I kept my mouth shut."
