James McCarthy has Newcastle transfer option

Newcastle will make a move for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy if a transfer seeing Yohan Cabaye to Arsenal goes through. French midfielder Cabaye is currently locked in talks with his current club as he is hoping to make a move to the Emirates.

McCarthy is currently unhappy at Wigan and is hopeful that a transfer back to the Premier League can be agreed.


Wigan have quoted Newcastle a reported £15m transfer fee for McCarthy, but the Toon Army are only willing to pay £8m for the player.
