Samuel Etoo to retire from International duty?

Chelsea's summer signing Samuel Eto'o has reportedly told his Cameroon teammates last weekend that he has decided to quit from playing for the national side.

The Cameroonian striker started in his national side's 1-0 home win over Libya on Sunday, which ensured the qualification of the African contigents in to the next stage, where they will have a two-legged tie, in which a victory would guarantee them a berth in the 2014 FIFA World Cup to be held in Brazil.

The 32-year-old has insisted that his decision to retire comes about due to a personal breakdown with coach Volker Finke, according to L'Equipe.

Volke Finke refused to add on to the issue following Cameroon's vital victory over Libya, suggesting Eto'o to clarify the situation himself.

He told reporters: "Samuel Eto'o is a great player and it is better that he should be the one to explain things.

"He is the only one who can explain why he took the decision."
