'Ciprian Marica set to join a Spanish club' insists his agent

Ciprian Marica's agent Victor Becali has confirmed that his client is currently in Madrid as he attempts to seal a contract with a Spanish club in the near future. 

The 27-year-old Romanian International, who is currently available on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Schalke 04, has been linked with the likes of Arsenal,Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the past few weeks.


However, his agent Becali has confirmed that a switch to Spurs has "failed".

Becali told Dolce Sport: "Marica's transfer to Tottenham failed. Rayo [Vallecano] cannot pay the salary, nor can they approach half the salary that he had in Schalke.

"Very few teams in Spain can pay well, but Marica is now in Madrid."
