Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke set to spend on new players in January

Arsenal's majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has revealed of his willingness to provide sufficient funds to Arsene Wenger during the January transfer window, as he aims to end the Gunners trophy drought.

The Gunners pulled off the biggest coup of the summer, as they signed Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for a club record fee of £42.5m.

The German playmaker has so far been a revelation for the North London outfit as he has provided three assists in his two league games so far.

According to The Mirror, Stan Kroenke who has a 66.6 percent stake at Arsenal, has revealed of his intentions of having a long term association with the club.

Kroenke said: “There would be nothing cooler; I’ve never experienced it over here, to win the championship of the Premier League. Some of my American cohorts have experienced that and we haven’t been able to. I’m not getting any younger. It’s something I would like to achieve. There would be nothing more thrilling than to win a championship. What a great player (Ozil) is. His spirit is great, the players who are with him... you can judge a lot by what players say when they leave and they weren’t happy when he left (Real Madrid).”

“We weren’t there to make a statement. It’s absolutely not done for that. It was done purely because our manager views him as worth that money, sees him as a player to help us compete, and that meant we were happy to pay it. There’s an awareness financially within clubs of spending in the US and Europe or whatever which you have to have. But we’ve always said that there are resources available to Arsene. We have always been, and will continue to be, very supportive”

Stan Kroenke's statement is likely to be well received by the Gunners fans, who would undoubtedly be aware of the club's need of new signings during the January transfer window, if they are to lift the Premier League title this season.
