Chelsea eye move for starlet Giannelli Imbula

Chelsea have been linked with a surprise transfer for Marseille's 21-year-old midfield starlet Giannelli Imbula. The French under-21 international recently arrived at the Stade Velodrome from Guingamp but that is unlikely to stop the Blues in their tracks to sign the starlet.

Blues' scouts have been monitoring Imbula in action for his current club at the Stade Velodrome in recent weeks and have been very impressed, sending a glowing report back to London regarding the defensive midfielder.


The 21-year-old only recently arrived at Marseille from his former club Guingamp in a 7.5 million Euro deal back in August, however it is understod Chelsea are set to make a massive 15 million Euro bid to land the player. The Blues are reportedly confident a deal can be wrapped up to sign the French naturalized citizen in the January transfer window.


Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is expected to deploy further scouts to watch Imbula in action over the coming three weeks.
