Danny Murphy announces retirement from professional football
Danny Murphy has officially announced his retirement from football, having had a glorious 20-year association with the game.
The former Crewe, Liverpool, Charlton, Tottenham, Fulham and Blackburn midfielder had notched up more than 600 senior appearances, with nine caps for the England national side to his name.
The talented midfielder is most fondly remembered for his time at Liverpool, where he won the FA Cup, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup during his spell.
He also played a key role for Fulham as they reached the Europa League final in 2010, ending up runners-up to La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.
The 36-year-old who had been a free-agent since leaving Blackburn in the summer, officially confirmed his retirement from the game, as he wants to concerntrate on his work in the media.
