Saint-Etienne poised to sign Modibo Maiga in January

French Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne are set to acquire the services of West Ham forward Modibo Maiga for a transfer fee of £1.5m when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Maiga failed to make an impact with the Hammers ever since his £4.7m switch from Sochaux back in July 2012.


The Mali striker has scored only two league goals and has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Mladen Petric and Carlton Cole


The return of club's record signing Andy Carroll by the end of November could seal the player's fate with the East London club in the New Year.
