Southampton unlikely to move for Cagliari defender Davide Astori

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has clearly ruled out the possibility of signing Cagliari defender Davide Astori during the winter transfer window.

With the Saints having started the season in top form, mainly due to their strong defensive setup, which has conceded just three goals in the opening nine games of the Premier League season, the club were linked with a switch for Davide Astori during the New Year.

The club presently have the second meanest defence in the whole of Europe, only behind high flying Serie A outfit AS Roma.


When asked it the South Coast club were in for Astori, Pochettino replied : "No, that is not true."
