Arsenal lead race to sign FC Basel starlet Fabian Schar
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to acquire the signature of FC Basel's young centre-back Fabian Schar during the winter transfer window, according to talkSPORT.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been a huge fan of Schar, who has been a key member in FC Basel's squad since his switch from FC Wil in 2012.
The 21-year-old Swiss International is considered as an efficient back-up to the first team central defensive partnership of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, and his arrival could put doubts on the future of club captain Thomas Vermaelen.
Schar has four caps for the Swiss national team, scoring three goals in the process.
