AC Milan set to rival Chelsea for the signing of Xabi Alonso

AC Milan are set to battle it out with Premier League giants Chelsea for the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso next summer.

The Spanish international's current contract expires at the end of the season, and reports in Spain suggest that the midfielder will make a move from the La Liga giants on a free next summer.


The arrival of Asier Illaramendi from Real Sociedad and the continued links with Borussia Dortmund midfielder IIkay Gundogan have raised doubts over Alonso's future with the Spanish giants.
