Niclas Fullkrug
Niclas Fullkrug
20-year-old striker Niclas Fullkrug has tongues wagging in Germany after a series of impressive performances for his temporary club, Greuther Furth. Fullkrug has joined the team on loan until the end of the season from Werder Bremen.
Fullkrug, who is actually owned by German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, has excited many pundits for a variety of reasons. At 6 foot 2, the player is crafty around the area and in the air. He is able to pick out crosses from all over the pitch and is very dangerous in and around the box.
The 20-year-old is also a very versatile player. Even though his preferred position is as a lone striker, he is also equally adept playing on the left or the right wing. As he is able to use both feet, he can play anywhere along the forward line.
It is expected that Fullkrug will return to Werder Bremen after a short loan spell and will be an important member of the first team for his club. So far this year, the striker has enjoyed a very successful start to the year in the 2nd division of Germany. For Furth he has played in 8 games and scored 4 goals already. Furth are doing well and are placed 2nd in the league having won 8 games in their first 14 matches.
One of the most impressive things about the striker is his speed for such a tall player. Whilst he may not be the fastest winger around, for such a built player he has an excellent ability to pick up the ball and rapidly move forward. He also has an excellent eye for goal as he has so far shown this season.
For his adopted club at Furth, he has built an excellent attacking partnership with Tim Sparv, who plays as a creative playmaker behind Fullkrug.
Last summer, numerous Bundesliga sides were linked with a transfer for the player, but it appears that Werder Bremen have no plan to sell the player just yet.
Expect Fullkrug to be an international one day. He has all the ability in the world and just needs regular football to kick start his career.
