Tottenham's Jermaine Defoe agree £90k-a-week MLS deal
Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe have reportedly agreed a £90k-a-week contract with Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC.
The 31-year-old English International who has notched up seven goals in five Europa League games this season, has failed to earn a starting place in the Premier League, as manager Andre Villas-Boas has favoured summer signing Roberto Soldado for the striker's role.
With the likes of Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United interested in launching January bids for the player, The Mirror claims that Toronto FC managed by former Spurs teammate Ryan Nelsen have won the race to acquire Defoe's services.
Defoe is expected to make a £6m move to Toronto FC from the North London outfit during the winter transfer window, with a view that he will be allowed to ply his trade for Spurs until the start of the MLS season.
