Tottenham sack Andre Villas-Boas

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked their manager Andre Villas-Boas following yesterday's 5-0 thrashing to second-placed Liverpool at the White Hart Lane.
The defeat which was the worst at home for Spurs in 16 years, left the club in seventh place, eight points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Andre Villas-Boas, who took over at the North London outfit in July 2012, from former boss Harry Redknapp, failed to maintain the club's expectations following a summer transfer spending spree.
"The club can announce that agreement has been reached with head coach Andre Villas-Boas for the termination of his services," A statement from the club said. "The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties."
Villas-Boas had been criticised by the media since the 6-0 defeat to Manchester City last month, and in spite of getting 7 points out of 9 before yesterday's game, the disastrous nature of the defeat against Liverpool sealed his fate with the Lilywhites management.
