Barcelona to renew Argentine’s contract

Barcelona are set to speak with Javier Mascherano about extending his contract at Camp Nou this summer.

The 29 year old has been one of the stars for La Blaugrana this season and the club hierarchy see him as a vital part of the team. In fact Mascherano has played in both midfield and at the center of defence.



The former West Ham man is contracted till 2016 but the club want him tied on a new long term deal. Barca are also willing to increase player’s salary should the player commit to a new deal.



Rafael Benitez at Napoli has been keeping tabs on the player whom he had at Liverpool and has been his long term target.
