Man City in for Newcastle United star?

Manchester City are reportedly set to make a formal transfer offer for the services of Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote, according to The Daily Express.

The report claims that the Citizens manager Manuel Pellegrini is eager to have the talented holding midfielder at the Etihad for the next season, but is likely to face a transfer tussle from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United for the player's signature.

It is now understood that the 2012 Premier League champions are leading the race for Tiote's services in the summer, and are ready to make an offer in the region of £18million.

Tiote has made over 100 appearances for the Magpies since his move from FC Twente in the summer of 2010.
