Atletico Madrid favourites to sign Chelsea star

Atletico Madrid are reportedly considered front-runners to re-sign Chelsea striker Fernando Torres during the summer transfer window, according to Goal.com.

The Spanish international who made his name at the La Liga giants. having scored an impressive tally of 82 league goals between 2001 and 2007.

 

According to Goal, the 29-year-old is considered as a top transfer target for manager Diego Simeone, who is keen on strengthening the club's striking department in the summer, with Diego Costa's future at the Vicente Calderon in doubt beyond the end of the current campaign.

 

Inter Milan have also been tracking the former Liverpool man, but Atletico look firm favourites to secure his services come the summer.

 

Torres has notched up 43 goals in 161 appearances for the Blues so far.
