Salomon Kalou almost joined Arsenal

Lille striker Salomon Kalou has sensationally revealed that he very nearly joined Arsenal in the January transfer window. The Ivory Coast international had been in talks with the Gunners regarding a loan deal to the Emirates in January.

Salomon Kalou has been in inspired form since making a move from Chelsea to Lille, and the French club currently sit in third place in the league table.

Kalou told L'Equipe: "A loan deal could have been done at the last minute.

"However, I want to finish third [in Ligue 1], prepare for the World Cup and go to the Stade de France to compete in the Coupe de France final."

Arsenal have been linked with a second move for the striker in the summer transfer window and have been linked with a 5 million Euro bid for the player.
