Davies to move on from Derby

Billy Davies has decided to leave Derby County by mutual consent. Derby have had a very difficult start to life in the Premiership, and rumours were rife that Davies had two games before being given the chop. Defeat against Chelsea signalled the end however.

The Rams, who were promoted to the top-flight after winning play-off against West Brom, are at the bottom of the Premiership table with just one victory in 14 games.

Davies, whose last game in charge at Pride Park was Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, told Sky Sports News on Monday: "It's time to move on. This is not the time to discuss anymore. It's time to move onto something new.”

"I don't know what there is for the future. I'll wait and see.”

"At this point I'd like to thank very much the staff and players and the fans, who have been magnificent.”

"I'm very, very proud walking out of these gates with what's been achieved. I'm walking out with my head held high," said the 43-year-old Scot adding that he will "bounce back and be a much better and stronger manager for this experience."
