Zenit St.Petersburg plot surprise bid for Mesut Ozil
Russian giants Zenit St.Petersburg are reportedly preparing a summer offer of around £40m for Arsenal's midfield sensation Mesut Ozil, according to an unnamed source.
According to the report, the German international, who had a great start with the Gunners largely failed to hit the heights in the second half of the campaign. Adding to this, Ozil is understood to be unhappy following the criticism received from the fans as well as the media in recent weeks and this could tempt him into making a switch elsewhere during the summer transfer window.
However, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is unlikely to allow the sale of the former Real Madrid star, as the club aim to keep hold of their top players to fight for the Premier League crown next season.
Ozil is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
