Sunderland eye move for Jack Rodwell

Sunderland are set to join the race to sign Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell, according to Sunderland Echo.
The 23-year-old had been in the fringes of the first-team at the Premier League champions last season, and is now open to a summer move away from the Etihad.
Rodwell is considered surplus to requirements at City following the arrival of Fernando from Porto earlier in the summer. According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats sporting director Lee Congerton is looking at the prospect of signing Rodwell on a season-long loan deal.
However, City are keen on selling the England international on a permanent basis, with former club Everton ready to offer around £6m for his signature.
