Portsmouth left-sided defensive midfielder Matty Taylor could be set for a move away from the club after Harry Redknapp admitted he would allow him to leave if a club came in with a "good offer". Taylor has been linked with Fulham, Reading and Sunderland among other sides.

Taylor said: "Niko (Kranjcar) has been playing so well that it's been difficult for Matty,” Redknapp told The News, in response to Taylor’s weekly setantasports.com blog.

“I understand his position. If he's unhappy and someone made a good offer then we would not stand in his way.

“I do not want to lose him. I like him very much. He's a good pro, he's done a terrific job for this club. But I'm not going to keep a player who wants to go – that's never been my policy.

“I understand exactly how Matty feels not being in the team at the moment. He's a good lad who trains hard and shows a fantastic attitude.

“If he was happy not playing and content messing around in the reserves then I wouldn't be happy with him. In fact if someone was happy with that then I would not consider playing them at all.

“He's not the only one in this situation – there are plenty of people around in football not happy. I am sure Jermain Defoe is not happy at Tottenham and I don't think they will let him go on the cheap.

“I understand what Matty is saying. If he wants to move and it's a good offer then I wouldn't stop him. But it would have to take a good offer.”
