Vermaelen still on United radar

Manchester United are reportedly confident of sealing a move for Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen this summer, in spite of interest from Barcelona.

The Red Devils are understood to be in crunch talks with the Gunners over the potential switch for the Belgian international, with some reports claiming that an initial bid has been rebuffed.

According to Goal.com, the Gunners skipper is keen on leaving the Emirates this summer, as he wants to play regular first-team football at a top club in the upcoming league season.

However, manager Arsene Wenger is unlikely to allow the sale of the player to either United or Barca in the current transfer window, unless he finds a suitable replacement.
