Reigning Spanish champions Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of right-back Jesus Gamez from La Liga rivals Malaga on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

After losing Felipe Luis to English giants Chelsea last month and Javier Manquillo loaned out to Liverpool, Diego Simeone was looking for reinforcements to strengthen his defense at Vicente Calderon.

The 29-year-old Spaniard rose through the ranks at La Rosaleda, and was a regular starter for the Anchovies, having made 266 appearances since his debut back in 2005. He even helped the club reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2013 and will now hope to help the Red and Whites defend their Primera division title.

Atletico Madrid will start their league campaign with their first away game against Rayo Vallecano on 25th August before they host newly-promoted Eibar on 30th August.

They will also take on Real Madrid in their Spanish Super Cup tie on 19th and 22nd August.
