Aston Villa want £12m from Man Utd for Ron Vlaar

Aston Villa have placed an asking price of around £12m on star defender Ron Vlaar ahead of alleged interest from Manchester.

The Netherlands international produced a string of top notch performances for the national side during the World Cup finals at Brazil over the summer and United boss Louis van Gaal is confident that the defender can replicate the same at Old Trafford.

According to ESPN, the West Midlands outfit are aware of the impending interest from the former Premier League champions and have placed a £12m price tag on their club captain.

However, it looks unlikely that United will pursue Vlaar's services in January as they value the defender at around £4m.

Vlaar's contract at Villa expires next summer.
