West Bromwich Albion to sign Shola Ameobi?

West Bromwich Albion are closing in on the signing of Nigerian striker Shola Ameobi on a free transfer.

The veteran striker called time to an excellent career at Newcastle United over the summer, and is currently a free agent having left Turkish side Gaziantep.

The Mail claims that the Baggies manager Tony Pulis is keen on bolstering his strike force and considers the 33-year-old as the perfect fit for the role given his long-time Premier League experience.

Ameobi scored 79 goals in 397 games for Newcastle United.
