Arsenal close in on Uruguayan youngster

Arsenal are reportedly tracking the progress of Penarol youngster Federico Valverde, with a view to a summer offer for his services.

The 16-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of the Gunners scouts in recent weeks.

According to The Metro, the Uruguay Under-17 international, who previously underwent a trial at the North London outfit in January, could seal a £2.5m switch to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League.
