Newcastle want James Wilson on loan

Newcastle United have made a formal approach to sign Manchester United forward James Wilson on loan next season.

The talented youngster has been a regular substitute under Louis van Gaal this season.

Van Gaal had declined loan offers for the young striker last winter, but The Metro claims the Magpies have approached the Red Devils regarding a temporary move for the player in the summer.

Wilson has scored two goals in 16 games for United this season.
