Everton in for former Gunner

Everton are understood to be interested in signing up Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen at the end of the season.

The Belgian international joined the Catalan giants from Arsenal last summer, and has since then sidelined with a thigh injury.

The former Arsenal man is expected to be fully fit by the end of the current campaign, and Tuttomercato claims that the Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is keen on bringing him back to the English top flight on a cut-price deal.

Vermaelen has yet to feature in a league game for Barca this season.
