Liverpool close to Martin Montoya deal

Liverpool are reportedly edging closer to a summer deal for Barcelona defender Martin Montoya.

The talented right-back is expected to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season, having failed to feature for the Catalan giants on a regular basis.

According to Metro, the Reds are keen on seeking an instant replacement for the departing Glen Johnson, and have made a modest bid of around £7.2m to sign up Montoya in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League.
