Alonso: we must learn

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has admitted that the team must learn from their mistakes after a few complacent performances especially against Derby. Liverpool have now slipped 9 points behind Man Utd.

After Derby almost picked up an important draw against Liverpool on Boxing Day, Alonso was very cautious.

"We probably should have scored and killed the game and then in the second half we struggled a bit," Alonso told Liverpool's official website.

"We have to think and try not to be in that position again because we had chances to win the game before the goal.

"We have to learn and not repeat what happened at Derby again."
