Southampton keen on Ron Vlaar

Southampton could look to secure the services of Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar, according to reports.

The Netherlands international has stalled on talks over a new deal at Villa Park, and is expected to leave the Midlands outfit when his contract expires in four days' time.

According to Birmingham Mail, the Saints have joined the likes of Newcastle United and Sunderland in the chase for the Dutchman's signature.

Vlaar has stated that he will decide on his future club before the start of pre-season.
