James McCarthy signs new Everton deal

Everton midfielder James McCarthy has signed a new five-year contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The Republic of Ireland international was thought to be considering a move away from Goodison Park, as the club had stalled talks over a contract extension.

However, the 24-year-old has rubbished any kind of transfer speculation by signing a new five-year deal at the Merseyside outfit.

The Toffees host newcomers Watford in the Premier League opener on August 8.
