Chelsea approach for Rafael Varane

Chelsea have made a fresh pursuit for Real Madrid sensation Raphael Varane, The Star reports.

The France international was a regular in the first-team, during Jose Mourinho's managerial reign at the Bernabeu.

According to The Star, the Premier League champions have made a new enquiry for the talented defender, who has struggled to cement his place in the starting line-up at Real.

Varane is likely to play back-up to the likes of Pepe and Sergio Ramos for the central defensive role this term.
