Liverpool in pole position to land Andrea Ranocchia

Liverpool are thought to be clear favourites in the race to land Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.

The Italy international is widely expected to seek an exit from the Nerazzurri in the New Year after he was unceremoniously axed from his captaincy over the summer.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Reds are understood to be heading the likes of Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in the chase to land the talented central defender.

It is added that Roberto Mancini's side would not come in the player's way, should he demand a move abroad.

The 27-year-old has made five substitute appearances for the San Siro side this term.
