Man Utd should drop Wayne Rooney - Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle United striker turned pundit Alan Shearer feels that Manchester United should offer an extended break to club-captain Wayne Rooney.
The England international has struggled to find goals on a regular basis, and has netted just once in the league this term.
There have been calls for the player to be dropped to the substitutes' bench, and Shearer suggests that the talented marksman should be offered a two-week break in order to 'recharge his batteries'.
"He needs time out of the game to relight that fire inside him. I’m his biggest fan and I’m not saying he is finished — but if ever a player needed to recharge his batteries it is Rooney," Shearer wrote in his column for The Sun.
