Arsenal weighing up bid for England Star

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly told the club's hierarchy to sanction a move for Everton defender John Stones.

The England international had been the subject of multiple bids from Chelsea over the summer, but the Toffees stood firm in their bid to keep hold of their star man.

Stones has since then kept up his form in the league and this is said to have caught the eye of Wenger.

According to Spanish source Fichajes, the Gunners head coach has requested the board to consider a potential deal for the 21-year-old in the New Year.

However, the club are likely to face competition from London rivals Chelsea, who are also known to be preparing a renewed bid for the central defender.

Stones is rated at around £42m by Everton.
